I would like to share with you the words of one of our creative writing students at Coastal State Prison. On a recent questionnaire, we asked program participants, “Do you think HeartBound’s classes make a difference? Why or why not?” He circled yes, then wrote, “They give hope and inspiration to the forgotten.” He later wrote about the impact that Ana Ivey, our creative writing teacher, has had on him: “Ms. Ivey was so encouraging. She took someone like me who was told that I couldn’t do it my whole life and she pushed me to realize I can do anything through God.”
